On the Road
Hi everyone,
How are you this week?
Have you received your copies of Log Off and The Island yet? Have you read them? It is really exciting to see photos of the books appearing in the wild, and to hear peoples’ thoughts on reading them.
The first Goodreads reviews are coming in:
If you have read and enjoyed either of the new books already, please take a moment to rate and/or review them! It really helps, because as you know, we’re ‘a tiny-ass press’ as Ashleight Bryant Phillips announced to everyone at Hidden Palace in Baltimore. :)
People can obviously see that the books look amazing, but it’s more difficult for me to convince strangers that they’re actually worth spending time with and reading, so it makes a big difference to have your genuine reactions out there.
Plus, I really want to know what you think! I’ve spent so long being one of the only people on earth who has actually read these books and now I finally get to find out how other readers respond to them… Here are the goodreads links for Log Off and The Island.
Thank you so much for the support!
I’m currently recovering from last week’s readings in Western Mass, Syracuse and Rochester, NY. And by recovering, I mean waking up at 5:30am to do my real job.
Here are some photos from the last few days:
I really loved what Liz Bowen wrote on Instagram after joining us for two of the readings:
I made an emotional Instagram Reel if you want to see video footage from the tour so far.
We’re heading to Buffalo tomorrow!
I’m very excited about this event because we invited some young writers from the Just Buffalo Literary Center to read with us at Fitz Books.
As you may know, Log Off is narrated by a 16 year old girl, and so we thought it would be fun to invite some real-life teenagers to join us for one of the events.
The book isn’t YA, but contemporary teens could really enjoy it too, even if it reads as historical fiction for them.
On Thursday we’ll be reading and talking at Type Books in Toronto, the city in which Shabby Doll House started, twelve years ago. This is a huge emotional deal for me and I’m going to try to act normal. :)
The following Thursday, we’ll be in Los Angeles for the first ever west coast Shabby Doll House event at Heavy Manners Library. I’m very excited to see Ana Carrete read IRL for the first time in over a decade!
Please come see us if you’re in any of these places! And say hi!!
P.S. What are you doing in August? Do you want help figuring out how to finish your book with a small group of writers/new friends? This four week editing workshop could be just the thing you need. Sign up closes July 1st, (or whenever the class is full)! There are currently a few spots still available but don’t hesitate if you’re sure you want to do it!
Okay, as usual, I’ve reached the ‘email length limit’ so I’ve got to stop writing.
Have a great week!
